After checking the Sunday paper and scanning the Walgreens Ad, I found quite a few things we could use on sale this week.
I headed to Walgreens on my own after dinner while DH was putting Pearl in the bath.
I purchased:
2 cans Carnation evaporated milk
1 can Libby's Pumpkin
1 Simply Orange Juice
2 4 lb. bags Domino Sugar
1 5 lb. bag Gold Medal All Purpose Flour
2 Degree for Women Deodorants
1 bag Schick Women's Disposable razors
1 Reach Crystal Clean Toothbrush
1 Neuragen Pain Relief Gel
1 Simalsin Cough Syrup for Kids
2 Reese's Pumpkin candies (needed two filler items to use all my coupons and these were .30 each)
My total after coupons: $24.63
Wag coupon savings: 6.11 (previously earned Register Rewards)
Wag Advertised Savings: 16.02 (Weekly In-Ad coupons)
Manufactured Coupon Savings: 25.80 (Manufactured coupons from either Sunday paper or internet savings sites)
My total Savings: 47.93
So I spent out of pocket....but I received $31 in RR and Mail-in Rebates. Which ended up with me MAKING $6.37 for the above items.
Because of the 2 rebate forms (for the Neuragen and Simalsin products) to be mailed in, I will spend .21 to copy the receipt twice (2 rebate forms) and .88 for postage for the two forms. So take 1.09 off. Still made $5.28
The goal for me is to spend as little out of pocket and not spend hours pouring over ads or cutting coupons. Bonus is to "make" money.
My favorite sites are MoneySaving Mom and Bescentable. I signed up to receive free emails from these sites with their tips on the best deals. They link to a coupon needed if it's online or tell you where to find it in the paper. So basically they do all the work for me, I just follow their directions:)
MSM has some posts on how to begin saving at Pharmacies like Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens. These are excellent to take those first baby steps. I'm still learning and these are great. Each store has their own set of rules and you have to learn to play by their rules or you lose out.
We are in a good place to do both CVS and Walgreens. Literally within walking distance of both, so I pack Pearl in our jogging stroller and we're off! We get a good walk in with some fresh air, and I'm able to get us the items we need at rock bottom prices.
For example: I have limits now on how much I'll spend on items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc. Because Florida has state sales tax, even if the MSM site says an item is FREE when paired with certain coupons, I know that technically it won't be free for me. I will pay the sales tax on it, which can break down to between .25 to .50 an item. A toothbrush for a quarter? I can do that.
When I have a good stockpile of items for us, I start to fill a box with extras I get for pennies/free. These items will either be donated to our local homeless shelter or sent to religious orders for their use.
One of our goals as a family is to live simply to meet our needs and be generous in meeting the needs of others.
For His Glory!

Good job! We're (still) living off the $5 Shampoo Stockpile I did in September 2009 ... at the rate we're going, we won't need to buy shampoo until mid to late 2011.
And yes, we do wash our hair daily. :P
