Swim Lesson wrap-up

Pearl finished her lessons on Friday.  We had planned on two weeks initially and then added a third week.  However, she developed an ear infection and we held off for a few days.  Thankfully the infection cleared and the instructor let us make up the three classes she missed.

This last week of make-up days was awesome!

She went everyday and didn't fuss at all.  She jumped in of her own accord; both in the shallow and deep end, and swam 10 feet to the ladder.  She is making progress with floating on her back and has turned into a fish; she loves going to the pool!

This is amazing to me since at the beginning of the month she hated sitting through her lesson and fussed the entire time (fussing=wailing and trying to escape).  It wasn't like the lessons were scary or super hard.  We are not into the force the child to swim stuff.  She just had to choose to not fuss.  She would follow their directions just fine, but she had to make a stink about it each time.  Weird, since she was swimming so well.

I'm so glad that we were able to do swim lessons this year.  We heard of this teacher who has been teaching for over 16 years and we've had a great experience.  The price was extremely reasonable and it was in a great atmosphere.

Pearl is "teaching" all her stuffed animals, baby dolls, and imaginary friend, Bobby, how to swim now.  I hear her from the kitchen saying "Dig and Pull...face in the water...good job!"

You can't teach what you don't know:)
