A little of this

Thank you for your prayers for my FIL. He is recovering nicely from his foot surgery. A little too nicely, though. He thinks he can be up and about right away. I'm glad we were there for two days post-op to keep an eye on him, but now he's causing mischief for my MIL. Hopefully he will heal nicely and be free of the previous pain.

We are currently working on re-doing Pearl's room. She is a climbing machine and can get out of her crib along with opening doors. So the goal is to get her room as safe as possible and also to inspire creativity.

We are taking apart the guest twin bed in order to leave the trundle portion as her bed. Low to the ground but still big enough for me to lay down for night nursing if needed.

One bookcase has already been moved to the Master bedroom for DH's books. The other bookcase is being re-organized to have the lower shelves with books, toys, dressup clothes, and other items for play. The upper shelves will contain books that I plan to take out for her but not have all the time access to.

I'd like to get a little rug to put in the middle of the room for her to play on.

We're making progress. Change is really hard for DH and sometimes I feel like I'm pulling teeth to do something new. We provide such great balance for each other, but we have to see the same vision for it to all work out:)

I certainly agree that prizing unity is extraordinarily important no matter how much society tries to tell us otherwise. You are so wise to value that in your marriage!!! I affirm your creativity and the creativity awaiting your whole special family. Here are some creativity quotes to put a smile on your face, friend:

“Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward; they may be beaten, but they may start a winning game.” — Goethe

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” — Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry

“Creativity is… seeing something that doesn’t exist already. You need to find out how you can bring it into being and that way be a playmate with God.” — Michele Shea

“Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” — Albert Einstein

“Every day is an opportunity to be creative – the canvas is your mind, the brushes and colours are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama is your story, the complete picture is a work of art called, ‘my life’. Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today – it matters.” — Innerspace

“The world is but a canvas to the imagination.” — Henry David Thoreau

“Listen to anyone with an original idea, no matter how absurd it may sound at first. If you put fences around people, you get sheep. Give people the room they need.” — William McKnight, 3M President

“I can’t understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I’m frightened of the old ones.” John Cage

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” — Maya Angelou

“Behind all creation is silence. Silence is the essential condition, the vital ingredient for all creation and all that is created. It is a power in its own right. The artist starts with a blank canvas – silence. The composer places it between and behind the notes. The very ground of your being, out of which comes all your thoughts, is silence. The way to silence is through meditation. When you arrive in your own silence you will know true freedom and real power. Stop, take a minute, and listen to the silence within you today. Then be aware of what disturbs your inner silence. It could be negative thoughts, memories, sensations. And when you are aware, you will know what is draining your creative power, and you will know what needs to change…on the inside!” — Relax7.com

“Life is trying things to see if they work.” – Ray Bradbury
