Thanksgiving Week Daybook

Outside My Window: Some cloudy days, but keeping things cooler...by that I mean in the high 70's and not 80's. Yes, it is late November.

I Am Thinking: about Christmas gifts. About half-way done, and I will get the rest weekend after Thanksgiving in order to be ready for family visits.

Attitude of Gratitude: "God doesn't ask me to be perfect, He asks me to Praise." Read this recently at A Holy Experience and it is really resonating in my heart. Amen! (This is still on my mind and in my heart)

In the School Room: We've been organizing some spaces which is great. A present for the girls this Christmas is to create an art corner and reading space. A trip to ikea for some shelving is in order. This week we will read lots of Thanksgiving books and hopefully craft. I need a craft buddy who can help motivate me with this. I so wish I had a friend who I could get together with once a week for a crafting day. I need a chipper, encouraging voice and a leader for these kinds of projects. ( I think I panic with the mess and am not naturally artistic so feel inadequate) Not my natural forte, so praying God blesses me with this buddy!

Celebrating the Liturgical Year: This weekend we celebrated the Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, a special saint in our house. We also marked on Friday the birthday of our Teresa. A family tradition from when I was little was to have muffins for birthday breakfasts. I'm not sure where it came from except that I love muffins. So when Pearl and I were talking about Teresa's birthday she asked what Muffins we were going to make in her honor. We decided on GF Pumpkin Chocolate Chip. It was very sweet to share that breakfast and think of her.

From the Kitchen: I'm planning a simple menu this week since thursday is Thanksgiving.

Sunday: GF Chicken Parmesan
Monday: Braised Short Ribs over Mashed Potatoes
Tuesday: Stir-Fry
Wednesday: Either Leftovers (clean out the fridge night) or Italian Soup from the freezer.
Thursday: Thanksgiving with dear friends
Friday: Leftovers? Will there be any:)
Saturday: Fajita's and Black Beans

I Am Working On: our Christmas newsletter. We took our picture last week and I already got those cards (shutterfly was super speedy). I also like to put in a newsletter about our doings. Mostly because when we receive Christmas pics, I always like hearing how everybody's year has gone, etc. So much more personal. So I make a point to send a newsletter about us since I would like one in return. "Be the change you want to see in the world."

I Am Creating: A grocery list for Thanksgiving.

I Am Going: to clean off the breakfast bar this week. It's driving me nuts.

I Am Hoping: that I can get the girls to transition better to sleeping in the same room.

I Am Praying: For special intentions of friends, for many friends who are almost due with little ones, and for us to do well with our budget in Nov, Dec, and Jan.

I Am ReadingThe Happiness Project Just got it back from the Library.

Words to Ponder:

"Happiness is a cup of coffee and a good book"

I Am Listening: Well I want to listen to Christmas music, but am looking for Advent music for the family.

Around The House: Some general tidying to do and clean bathrooms. Checking Advent box and making sure all supplies are there.

Favorite Things: Planning Thanksgiving dinner. This time of year is a favorite of mine as the weather cools and things get comfortable. Cool enough to have dinner on the porch. Lovely.

This Week's Plans:

Work on Thanksgiving pre-k unit

Glimpse Into My Day:
